"The hotel looks a little far at first (about 10–15 min walk from the station), but with the cool windy weather, it felt like an easy walk. Maybe in mid-summer or snow winter it could be tougher, but during our stay it was very comfortable short walk for us. The room was spacious and spotless. The sofa was already prepared with bed sheets and pillows, making it easy for a 3rd or even 4th guest to sleep (just make sure to put the correct number of guests, including children, when booking). The onsen was excellent – clean, large, and with real spring water. There’s also a washing machine (bring your own detergent), and a kitchenette in the room, though you need to borrow cooking utensils from the front desk, guest need to clean them after use. (No condiments are provided) Breakfast was very good, but the only downside is the 40-minute time limit. Most of the staff were polite and friendly, though one female staff at reception and a male staff at the breakfast area seemed less welcoming. Overall, I’d recommend this place to families who want a spacious room with a small kitchen and a proper onsen. Definitely choose the breakfast plan if you book."

"The location is fantastic! It's right by the JR station and the bus stop is just outside, making it super convenient to get to Goryokaku and Mount Hakodate. The morning market is also right next door. The room was spacious and well-designed. The only minor issue was that there wasn't even a bottle of water in the room, and I didn't see a water dispenser in the public areas. However, overall, it's still pretty good value for money."

"The room was very clean and cozy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. There is nothing to complain about! I had a really good time during my stay. I would love to try their breakfast buffet next time."

"Excellent hotel. The rooftop infinity pool, hot spring, terrace bath, sea breeze, and Hakodate night view were incredibly relaxing. I used the baths both in the evening and in the morning. There's a scenic bar lounge that offers coffee. The room had a private washer/dryer and a microwave. The breakfast offered was great value, allowing you to choose a restaurant at the adjacent seafood market. However, I didn't opt for it because I wanted to try catching squid and grilling it, and also having crab shabu-shabu – this morning market is truly the best for seafood. Disposable slippers were provided, which many Japanese hotels don't offer."

"Hands down the best hotel I've stayed in Hakodate! The location is unbeatable, right outside JR Hakodate Station. Plus, the Mashumaru ferry museum is just around the corner and definitely worth a visit. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was absolutely superb."

"The location is fantastic, within walking distance to the Red Brick Warehouses, Hachimanzaka Slope, the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway station, and the church district. Although the hotel itself is historic, it's well-maintained overall, and the service is excellent and efficient. The breakfast spread is generous, with fresh and delicious ingredients. There's a convenient Family Mart on the first floor, and the coffee and tea in the lobby are also quite good. You can also book a shuttle to the JR station (though it's only about a kilometer walk, so we chose to stroll). Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hakodate!"

"The hotel is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from Hakodate JR Station. The absolute highlight was the incredibly extensive breakfast, offering a wide variety of dishes including ramen and sashimi. Another major plus was the rooftop hot spring (onsen), which boasted fantastic views and was perfect for unwinding. On the same floor as the onsen, there's a snack bar open until 11 PM, where you can conveniently charge items like ramen, takoyaki, and ice cream directly to your room card. Overall, it was a very comfortable and pleasant stay."

"I've stayed in many hotels, and this one definitely ranks among the best in terms of service. I arrived quite late, but the front desk staff still greeted me warmly and helped with my luggage. The room was cozy, and they even provided welcome fruit and snacks—a truly thoughtful touch. The next day, I was in a rush and didn't have time for breakfast, but the hotel unexpectedly prepared a packed breakfast for me to enjoy on the road. This level of thoughtful service truly touched me and I absolutely must give it a thumbs-up!"

"I had a pleasant short stay at HOTEL MYSTAYS Hakodate Ekimae. The location was excellent right next to Hakodate Station, making it very convenient for public transport and exploring the city. There were plenty of food options nearby, and it was easy to walk to popular attractions. The hotel was comfortable and well-kept, perfect for a short stay."

"My only regret is not booking the room for more days! ❤️ Pros: very close to the tram station; the room with the open air bath is spacious, clean, and sooo lovely; the public bath was clean; the staff were very nice, shoutout to Julie for explaining everything to us; the breakfast was good; i loved the little things: the charming yukatas, the snacks, the loose leaf tea, a lot of thought was put into it Cons: idk. only because im nitpicking but the hotel’s a bit old which adds to the whole vibe of the room we stayed in. 100/10… definitely coming back and seeing all the Hakodate spots we missed because of our short stay and staying here again"
